First photo from Havana this year, and actually it's been very long time since last one. The club have new owner since some time last year. He's been Havana's resident DJ for several years now, dj BIKO. We have some decent lighting in there, and hopefully some other improvements are on their way.

2011

Here we go again, another year, another resolutions. This time i hope to make more than i did last year. Many ideas, as always, but not much time or will... i need strong motivation, and i am hoping to find it this time.

This year we will start with photo from the Drift, as this is only club along with LaCala i have visited so far in this year. I really regret i did not make it to Chase & Status performance this christmas. I don't even know what is going on in this 2011 yet... i need to check all the upcoming events and put them in to my calendar, i don't want to miss anything decent. Here we go again.

Week 46

It's been long time since last post here, and it's not because i was doing nothing, it just happened, different priorities. Meanwhile i prepared my website, which is nearly complete now, and i think if everything goes ok it will be launched at the beginning of the next year with new company RW photo.
I will be back to this blog, and i will try to continue what i was doing before. What is new? Not much, really, it's cold and wet again, introduction to jersey winter. St Helier seems strange at night, on one side it is like ghost town at night, but just next road people are walking along like pilgrims, from venue to venue. I have not been out for couple weeks now and i forgot how is it like, how good it feels.
Got star eight filter to test last night, i think it's good addition to be kept on lens at all the time, adds sparkling touch to photographs.

Week 21

Last Wednesday and Friday we were photographing school proms,  first Le Rocquier and the Haute Valle. I managed to pop in to the Drift on Friday night for a while as well.

Week 20

Finally decided to go out again, i am quite busy right now, and i can't do much without new computer. That is so annoying.

I have little time or will to sit down in front of the computer and do something. The only event i have attended was charity fashion show at the Royal Yacht Hotel - Celestial Hall

Week 18

Hot crazy summer nights are nearly there, few more weeks and Jersey will be great place to party, on the beach, in the club. Warm nights, that is what makes me smile, because you can then smell that beautiful night, you know it's summer,and that makes you happy. After all, we were waiting 8 long months for summer to come back. Some excellent parties are on horizon, cant't wait.

King of the Ring - Muay Thai championship

Or it is not actually a championship, don't really know but some gained or defended their belt so i guess it is.
Quite interesting, event was different to any other just because of thai boxing instead of traditional box.
Music and and all AV aspect of it created really nice atmosphere,  nice Delta AV!
Is it just me or event was not promoted on large scale, i have seen posters around but that's it. Amount of people that turned up there was impressive, i did not expect it to be so nice.
Jersey's Bad Boy won, and so crowd was roaring.

Last fight - the winner was Thai champion. Impressive fight.

Week 13

Joey Negro at Royal Yacht rocked the house. Lazy Jack restaurant, Sirocco Restaurant and Celestial Hall have been transformed in to one excellent large venue. Absolutely amazing. 

There was quite nice warm-up party at Tanguys before. 

Also, competition for miss and mister of st Helier in local parish hall.

Week 11 2010

Great night with Ferry Corsten @ Liquid! He is excellent dj, no doubt. And the last tune, classic. Shame it was not crowded, i guess it was less than 100 people n there, thus dance floor looked half-empty most of the time. He might just think we don't like him here. I just don't understand it.
His set was great, some nice trance classics nicely mixed with more current ones and his own productions.

Unfortunately i don't have decent photo of him playing, as the dj box was not positioned in good location.

Week 11 2010

I will pass this friday evening, i just can't be asked to go out, i feel sick, it may be flu or something. It's sill cold, and i just don't want to make it worst, as tomorrow i gotta be in liquid for Ferry Corsten!

And i may also go on sunday for moto-x at Sorel Point, just to try out 80-200 f/2.8

New lens

I just bought second hand EF 80-200 mm f/2.8L lens, and therefore replaced my EF 70-200 USM f/4L.
Lens it's quite old, perhaps 20 years or so, but build quality is just stunning, like current L series, but for about thousand pounds less. I am not using this type of lenses often, so this is good replacement, at actually no cost to me. Usually the newer the better, but i will now sell my few year old lens and stick to that great one!

Week 10 2010

I guess it is because of the weather, not wet but cold and windy. Many places were not busy, like Pure for example, but Drift somehow was, with long que outside all the time. Bar Rock it's apparently open again, i have not been there yet, it's to cold for me to walk all way down to there. Last night i had a though that Platinum it's actually very nice venue. I think it's because of two lasers shining right above your head, and that makes that great aura which is not present in many others around here, and gives opportunity for nice shots, as most of the night clubs are quite dark in most areas, so there is no chance for shoot with nice colorful lights in background, just some vast black, or some dark walls. I would really like to go to some big party like sensation or qlimax, that must be great experience. For now, we are stock on the rock, let see what we can get from it (at lest there are some decent dj's coming from time to time). 

Yes, it's true, Ferry Corsten coming to Liqud nightclub on 13 of March, i hope he will not miss his flight or will be granted landing permit this time.

Awful weather, cold and rain, some places were relatively empty just because of that. Anie Mac on watersplash, the best one tonight. I went to drift, and then mint and Platinum,  i was hoping to go to the Pure, but it was really quiet that night. I just cant wait for hot summer nights.

Casino Royale night at Royal Yacht

Its so cold outside and so hot inside... nice atmosphere all over the place, christmas light are on in the town, we almost entering december now, definitely best period of the year. A lot is happening, everything is getting busier, shops, pubs, clubs, restourants, and its just beggining of december but everyone is on rush now.

But is teribbly cold these days.
How can they...

Because of the halloween there was kidnapped party III, this time at devil's hole, not much to say, you should go there.

Because some party have been canceled and moved from Watersplash to Liquid there was even more crowdy than ever. And because its haloween it was even bigger.

Sunday Social in havana with dj Biko, its nice, but i see the same people there at all the time, most of them is there every sunday. But atmoshpere its nice, can't wait when that club will be expanded sometime early next year.

Its quite busy weekend, wasn't that bad at all, i went to Club 72 for long time not being there, and im surprised, its very nice club now, i mean club upstairs, 5 laser lights in total, massive fog mashine, all that makes great ambient there, plus funky dancefloor and poles. Today biko have been playing sexy house, which was cool too. I havee been around the town and every where were good parties, a lot of people and a lot of photos. About 350-400 but got about 317 cos obviously i deleted quite a few of them. Batteries are great. They lasting that long. Pure hosted Janette Slack, she was great , nice tunes and she is cool too. Got her cd to check out later tommorow.


And that's the Drift, nothing special about that one, but i feel that ambient light nice in this one.
From my perspective its unusual situation in lighting there :]

The time is now, season is finished, all places seems to be quiet, less people going out these days, locations aren't empty, but you can feel it is not the same as it used to be few months back, or year before. Today i've done Havana only as Fridays was quite empty, but people there didn't wanted any photos, it shows up because of different age group there as they used to Fridays because of live band's saturdays, personally i think its missed idea, as those people do not match that place... Havana seems better, however its going bad too, but as far as i know there will be new owner who will develop almost new different and mainly PROPER club sometime early next year. That sounds good, with 2 levels dancefloor with balcony and main dancefloor expansion.
I found nice remix of Utah Saints "something good" done by Warren Clarke played by Biko last times. Nice one.

Finally got new batteries as my old ones couldn't be properly charged. And thanks for that, as i ended with about 300 photos in total, massive amount of people all over the town. I wasn't sure if there is anything decent on watersplash, but now i know i couldn't manage it tonight.

Fridays, Varda, Chicago and Pure, that's all i've done tonight, Pure was very positive this night, nice tunes down and upstairs, nice one guys.

Today we recieved EOS 50D in store, after spending some time with camera my feelings are positive, i've got 40D already so its not good for upgrade, but they made few tweaks and improvements so if you want to upgrade from lower camera 50D is one to go for. Just wait for cashback after new year or so. Personally im waiting for 5DmkII , i seriously thinking about this one... will se when i get it in my hands.

In two words: just tired.

Relatively positive night, quite enjoyable, dont know what was on in Watersplash but wouldnt bother to go there tonight anyway. Im going to post some pics on www.islandbass.com but tommorow, i need sleep cos have to wake up early morning.
Its not my favourite place to be, but there is different atmosphere, and people are different...

Tonight quieter than usual, Friday's was dead, also Havana wasn't so good, there was no que tonight. Anyway, Biko's tunes recompensates everything!

Its getting bad, tonight was quite busy everywhere, but im getting tired with all that people there; i lost my voice somehow, but i wasn't shouting at all... got penalty parking ticket as well... Im fed up with this photography on rush. Anyway, that's Drift tonight:

On sat 6 of sep there was great wicked night at watersplash hosting High Contrast.
I love his tunes and that was pleasure to go there, i managed to get photo with him, i wasnt beind the camera so it is not great, focus in background, focusing beam on my face but i like it anyway. I need new high contrast in my life btw.

Jersey Eye - have been here for few months now, but i just visited it recently. During the day time i took a ride, but it was cloudy and didn't take any nice photos. Came in the evening and shoot with long exposure time, but it was so certain and well-known, that i tried with some zooming, and it comes out quite nice, actually i have that photo printed out.

Day after Battle of Flowers there is Moonlight Parade, similar to proper Battle of Flowers but with decreased numbers of participants, and all the platforms are lit, as the parade is held at night time, finished by fireworks show, which was weakes one for decades i've heard.

Jersey's largest event - Battle of Flower, i came there a bit late, so there is not so many shoots from there, nothing decent though. As usuall a lot of people from britain turned up, it was wery crowdy there. At least i didn't paid for the ticket.

Tonight i went to the new club Varda, nice looking one, but... its a gay club :/ Try imagine me seeing two guys kissing. Definitelly will not go there, especially when will be packed and crowdy :/

Pure nightclub

Nothing happening tonight... polish dj in Liquid but actually nobody turned up. I like friday's on sundays because of music and atmosphere, guy playing sax and drums, with nice house music its great mix! And havana, there was big que tonight, packed inside, R&B room was nice but not for me, i prefer the other one, with dj Biko! great music, great lighting, great atmosphere!

And friday again, Peter with me tonight, i have done round around town but nothing special really, fridays had some special performance, but that wasn't interesting at all. then moved to drift, meet Peter, and went to Pure, from now on a rock nite wil be held on pure 1st and 2nd floor. Not my taste though.
